JUDGE JUDY HAS been doing her job for a very, very long time. 

In 1965, she became an attorney and she held this position for seventeen years before she finally became a judge in 1982. In 1996, she brought her legal expertise to daytime television when she launched Judge Judy, which has been airing steadily for 23 seasons now. 

More often than not, Judy seems pretty exasperated by the guests on her show and the drama that they manage to make over very minor incidents. Yet, 53 years after passing her bar examinations, Judy hasn’t let the job age her at all. She’s still as feisty and quick-witted as she was when Judge Judy kicked off in the late 90s. 

Now, 76-years-old, Judy appeared on The Ellen Show and the two women discussed how they have both managed to defy both time and gravity in their senior years. (Remember: Ellen DeGeneres is 60 years old now.)

Ellen, who is worth $470 million and Judy, who is worth $400 million did not mention the comfortable, leisurely and stress-free lifestyles that they have been afforded thanks to their financial situations, and instead insisted that the trick to looking young is to do things that young people do. Easily said when your pension is nearly half a billion dollars. 

It’s definitely not genetics anyway. Judy said that her grandmother “had breasts that started at her neck and stopped at her knees.”

Judy recounted when Florence Henderson told her that “Seventy is the new fifty”, before getting into her car and drink-driving home after a few cocktails, while fondly reminiscing on the first time that she heard that “age is just a number”. Weird anecdote for a judge to share, but okay. 

Judy continued:

The people that I know who are older and spirited look like they’re having a good time. The people who are older and don’t do anything to keep themselves younger don’t look like they’re getting the best bang for their buck out of life. So that’s it. 

Ellen agreed:

I feel like it really is just a number, I think that it’s really about the way you think and the way you act. It’s more important than anything. I feel I am extremely immature, I mean I play games, I scare people all the time. I do things that a 60-year-old shouldn’t do, I just, I’m young. I feel that.  

Judy then referenced some skincare scams that she had previously written about on Twitter.

Ellen’s image has also been used to endorse these skincare scams, without her permission. Together, the two women told viewers not to trust any product endorsed by Ellen or Judge Judy unless they actually hear these two women endorse the product with their own voices. 

If you don’t see us with our mouths moving, talking about a product, if you just see a picture of us – we’re not endorsing that product. 

In fairness, Judy and Ellen’s advice might be worth listening to. There have been similar scams aimed at Irish markets, with companies falsely claiming their skincare products have been endorsed by Amy Huberman or Dragon’s Den.

One such product that Amy Huberman has spoken out about is called ‘Dermavix’. Huberman has warned her Instagram followers to steer clear of products made by that company, and confirmed that she has absolutely no association or involvement with Dermavix.
